<p>Make a custom sushi presentation board in our woodshop, then learn sushi fundamentals with Joyce of Cooking. Finish the afternoon with a guided tasting of sake and a beautiful plated spread you prepared together. A perfect Sunday date that mixes sawdust and soy sauce!</p><p><br></p><h2>What you will do</h2><ul><li><strong><strong>Build your board</strong></strong>: Select a food-safe hardwood blank, square it up, plane, sand, and finish. Add a chopstick tray or sauce well as time allows. You will leave with a sealed, ready-to-use sushi board.</li><li><strong><strong>Learn sushi basics</strong></strong>: Joyce will cover rice prep, knife technique, rolling, plating, and sauces. You will make a small variety of maki and simple nigiri suitable for home entertaining.</li><li><strong><strong>Plate and taste</strong></strong>: Style your finished board and enjoy your creations with a sake tasting.</li></ul><p><br></p><h2>Who this is for</h2><p>Couples and friends looking for a hands-on Sunday Funday. No woodworking or sushi experience required.</p><p><br></p><h2>What is included</h2><ul><li>Hardwood board blank and finishing supplies (Couples will work on 1 board together, Individuals will work on their own board solo)</li><li>All ingredients for the sushi portion</li><li>Use of tools and safety gear</li><li>Guided sake tasting (optional)</li></ul><p><br></p><h2>What to bring and wear</h2><ul><li>Closed-toe shoes are required in the woodshop (no sandles, heels, flip flops)</li><li>Tie back long hair and avoid loose sleeves</li></ul><p><br></p><h2>Important notes</h2><ul><li>19+ for sake tasting. Non-alcoholic options available.</li><li>Please tell us about allergies during checkout. We handle common allergens, but cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.</li><li>The woodshop portion involves dust and noise. Hearing and eye protection are provided.</li><li>Your board is finished with a food-safe oil. Care instructions will be covered.</li></ul><p><br></p><h2>Schedule and location</h2><p>Art Aggregate, 637 Parkdale Ave. N, Hamilton<br>Workshop, sushi class, and tasting run consecutively.</p><p><br></p><p>Please note that this is an active woodshop and we have cats and dogs that live on site or frequently visit so there is allergens. Please plan accordingly.</p>
