4-H BC Leader Training: Judging

In this session, 4-H leaders will learn the tools and strategies needed to lead a successful 4-H judging program. We’ll cover how to effectively teach and assess judging skills, along with practical tips for organizing a club-level competition. By the end of this session, you will be able to:

• Access and use available 4-H judging program resources
• Teach key judging skills: using correct terminology, making positive comparisons, assigning placings, and giving written and oral reasons
• Understand and apply the Hormel system for evaluation, including the use of splits
• Score written and oral reasons accurately
• Plan and run a 4-H club judging competition

Expect to receive an email reminder from your instructor a couple days ahead of the workshop that will include the Zoom meeting link and associated handouts for your session.
