The Hamilton All Star Jazz Band organization consists of the Junior Jazz Band for 11 to 15-year-olds, the Rising Stars Jazz Band, for 15 to 19-year-olds, and the All Star Jazz Band for musicians up to 25 years of age.The Mission of Hamilton All Star Jazz Band Inc. is “Music and Youth Building a Better Community”. HASJB’s aim is to be the leading arts organization for youth in the Golden Horseshoe.Our young people act as ambassadors for our community. We focus on the development of life skills – responsibility, commitment, teamwork, leadership and respect – in an intellectually and artistically challenging environment. We concentrate on excellence in music performance for local, national and international audiences. HASJB Inc. provides a proud legacy that is directed by an enthusiastic group of directors, advisors and volunteers who administer a self-sustaining, multi-tiered program for young people. We are a registered charitable organization for the youth of Canada.

About the artistPlaying with a beautiful expressive sound, effortless sense of swing, and refined improvisational skills, trombonist Josh Brown is joined by guitarist Randy Napoleon and bassist Neal Miner on a unique journey that is altogether intimate, joyous, and fresh through the Great American Songbook.Josh Brown seemed destined to become a musician. Raised in Burlington, Ontario by his music teacher mother and jazz loving father, he grew up playing in school and city bands, eventually winning local and national competitions. Later he attended Humber College in Toronto, where he studied music with highly regarded teachers such as Al Kay, Don Thompson, and Pat LaBarbera. He then went on to attend the prestigious Banff School of Fine Arts, and Thelonious Monk Jazz Aspen Snowmass. Josh made the move to New York in the early 2000′s, and quickly began establishing his name as an up and coming jazz trombonist, studying with jazz greats Slide Hampton, Steve Davis, and Barry Harris by day, and cutting his teeth on the local scene at night. Aside from his work as a leader, notable credits vary far and wide, from small group work with renowned jazzmen Grant Stewart, Frank Basile, and Ehud Asherie, to large groups such as Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, the Smalls Big Band, as well as living legends, which included a recent guest appearance with Freddy Cole on his latest album This and That. Josh has also toured internationally and relentlessly for close to a decade as a member of Warner artist Michael Buble’s band. Numerous TV credits include Saturday Night Live, BET on Jazz, PBS Great Performances, The Late Show with Jay Leno, The Tonight Show with David Letterman, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and Live with Kelly and Michael. Josh is a Conn-Selmer Artist, a two-time recipient of the Canada Council for the Arts Grant, and was a semi-finalist in the 2003 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trombone competition. Trisha Richardson also features him in her book The Soul of Jazz. With Songbook Trio and his previous album The Feeling of Jazz, Josh has secured his footing as an artist with a singular voice and vision, as well as a leader on the trombone in the world of jazz.
