This presentation will focus on exploring the Adoptee Consciousness Model and reflections from an Indigenous adoptee.

DESCRIPTIONThis presentation will focus on exploring the Adoptee Consciousness Model developed in 2022 by Jae Ran Kim, Susan Branco, Grace Newton, Paula O' Loughlin, and Stephanie Kripa Cooper-Lewter. The presenter who is an Indigenous adoptee and social worker will explore and share reflections on how the Adoptee Consciousness Model intersects with the profession of social work and the implications for clinical practice when working alongside Indigenous adoptees.PRESENTERJeane Steil is a proud Dene woman from Fort Nelson First Nation. Jeane holds a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia and bring years of experience working alongside Indigenous families and communities in both acute health care settings and community-based environments.Jeane's practice is rooted in a trauma-informed lens that honors the strength of relationships, cultural identity, and lived experience. Jeane believes healing happens in connection—with self, with others, and with community. Whether supporting individuals through life transitions, grief, intergenerational trauma, or navigating complex systems, Jeane strive to create a safe, respectful, and culturally grounded space.ZOOMThis event will be delivered on Zoom.
