Who is organizing this event?

This event is hosted by Freshwater Conservation Canada. We’re a national conservation charity that works on the ground to protect and restore streams, rivers, and lakes across the country.

What should I bring?

Weather-appropriate clothing you don’t mind getting muddy. Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or rubber boots. Work gloves (if you have them – extras will be available). Water bottle. A packed lunch/snacks (unless otherwise specified)

How do I stay hydrated?

Please bring your own reusable water bottle or tumbler. Our staff will have water jugs available for you to refill your bottles.

What will Freshwater Conservation Canada provide?

Gloves, tools, a water jug to refill your reusable water bottle, and light snacks.

Are washrooms available?

Accepted Answer

Bathrooms are available on-site.

Question 6

What if there is bad weather like heavy rain or snowstorm?

Accepted Answer

If there is light rain, the mission will go on. If heavy rain or a snowstorm comes through, we will either delay or cancel the day. Please always check your email for updates, as this is where you will receive up-to-date information about the day. Your safety is our number one priority!

Can I get volunteer hours for school or work?

Absolutely! Let us know when you arrive, and we’ll sign off on your hours.

Do I need previous experience to volunteer?

Not at all! You don't need any prior experience. Our staff will provide training and guidance on-site. Just be willing to get your hands dirty and help the environment.

How physically demanding is the work?

Some walking will be involved, shovelling dirt,  and lifting young trees and shrubs (20lbs is possible).

Is this event kid-friendly?

Yes! All minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
