Speaker Bios:
Jimmy Joy, Academic Chair for the Respiratory Therapy program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT)
With a career spanning diverse areas of respiratory care, Jimmy has worked in intensive care units, emergency departments, operating rooms, pulmonary function laboratories, community clinics, clinical research, education, and administration. His broad experience gives him a deep understanding of how respiratory therapists contribute to patient care across the healthcare continuum.
Nyaradzo (Nary) Onyango, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator, Certified Tobacco Educator, Cardston Health Centre
With over 11 years of experience, Nary has built her career as a community respiratory therapist serving rural Alberta. From Fort McMurray to Cardston, she’s worked across all health zones, bringing respiratory care and education directly to communities. Passionate about mentoring the next generation, Nary will share what her day-to-day work looks like, what inspired her career choice, and how rewarding it is to make a difference in patients’ lives—often right in their hometowns.
