<p>We are excited to welcome you to our National Day of the Child event, taking place November 20, 2025, at the Ivany Theatre at the Nova Scotia Community College Ivany Campus, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This event is hosted in partnership between the <a href="https://rise.articulate.com/share/0EQdP2Xcxtkn2xDz215XqixF1x3xx_5T#/lessons/JUKcbC7SSBgN-haIZgDPrl1uz7yrM88q" title="https://rise.articulate.com/share/0EQdP2Xcxtkn2xDz215XqixF1x3xx_5T#/lessons/JUKcbC7SSBgN-haIZgDPrl1uz7yrM88q" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Atlantic Tuition Waiver Project</a> and the <a href="https://nscsw.org" title="https://nscsw.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nova Scotia College of Social Workers</a> (NSCSW). <a href="https://youtube.com/live/At1U2tPxMNg" title="https://youtube.com/live/At1U2tPxMNg" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">It will also be livestreamed for people who are unable to make it in person</a>.</p><p>This public event is meant to showcase the pivotal role of social workers, educators, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations to support the education goals of youth with care experience. As we commemorate the National Day of the Child and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, our panel event and community exhibit highlight the barriers to access education and highlight the ways we can build better paths forward.</p><p>We will share findings from a SSHRC funded research project, showcase a related community exhibit, and show examples of digital stories collected through this research project from youth with care experience and professionals supporting them pursue post-secondary education.</p><h3>Speakers</h3><p>Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with leading experts and champions in social work and education! The theatre is in the Harbourside wing.</p><h4>Transit</h4><p>Ivany Campus is walking distance from the Woodside Ferry Terminal. There are bus stops next to campus for routes 6 (6A, 6B, 6C) and 67. </p><h4>Parking</h4><p>Parking on campus is limited. There are some accessible spaces. Parking passes are required and enforced for all employee and student lots. The small visitor parking lot (see the map above) is first-come, first-served. </p><p>Off-campus, there is limited street parking. But a short walk away, there is a paid <a href="https://indigoneo.ca/en/car-park/h018-dartmouth-general-hospital" title="https://indigoneo.ca/en/car-park/h018-dartmouth-general-hospital" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Indigo lot near the Dartmouth General Hospital</a>. Slightly further, there may be parking available at the Woodside Plaza, or near the Woodside Ferry Terminal (also paid).</p>

<h3>Professional development tracking</h3><p>For members of NSCSW who attend, this event is eligible towards the annual requirement for professional development activities that support the <strong><strong>pursuit of social justice</strong></strong>.
