What is the “What Were You Wearing?” exhibit?

The What Were You Wearing? exhibit is a powerful, survivor-centred installation designed to challenge the harmful myth that clothing contributes to sexual violence. The project was first created in 2013 at the University of Arkansas by Jen Brockman and Dr. Mary Wyandt-Hiebert.

Why is the exhibit important?

Because victim-blaming remains one of the biggest barriers preventing survivors from coming forward. Exhibits like What Were You Wearing? help shift the conversation toward accountability, education, and survivor support.

What should I wear to the event?

This year’s theme is Art Gallery Couture. Guests are encouraged to wear bold, expressive, editorial-inspired looks; anything from avant-garde fashion to creative personal style.

What is Aurora House?

Aurora House is a transitional housing program that offers survivors a safe place to heal and rebuild their lives. Residents receive housing, counselling support, employment assistance, and connections to community services as they work toward long-term stability and independence.

Where does the money raised go?

Funds raised through ticket sales and donations will directly support Aurora House under MNLC, helping sustain safe housing, programming, and essential supports for survivors.
