Farmer and Rural Landowner Workshop
Connect with local farmers building resiliency through trees, wetlands, & more. Explore advice and funding to turn your ideas into projects.
Curious about restoration projects on rural lands?
You are invited to join us on March 26th from 7 - 9pm in Mitchell at the Crystal Palace to explore on-farm restoration projects and the grants available in the region.
Hosted by: Ausable Bayfield Conservation, Maitland Conservation, and Upper Thames River Conservation
Through farmer-led sessions, attendees will receive firsthand advice from farmers on establishing stewardship projects on the landscape, from windbreaks to wetlands.
Guest speakers include:
- Alanna Coneybeare, Conlee Farms Inc - windbreaks and buffers around agricultural fields
- Kate Procter, Bodmin Farms Ltd - wetland creation & reforesting marginal land
Engage with conservation specialists to learn how they can support project planning and access grants to fund up to 100% for eligible projects.
Following presentations, connect one-on-one with your conservation authority representative(s) for the final half hour of the event.
Light refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
This project is funded by the Governments of Canada and Ontario under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), a five-year, federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
Unsure what qualifies as a stewardship project? We've provided examples of projects that help improve soil and water quality below:
- windbreaks, shelterbelts, and tree planting along streams and rivers
- planting trees on marginal land
- creating wetlands
- planting grasslands or meadows
- projects that help control erosion
