MissionParents for Diversity is a collective of parents committed to achieving inclusive and non-discriminatory learning environments that allow children to fulfill their true potential in this world. We advocate for schools and families to promote diversity and inclusion and to take meaningful steps to address and eradicate discrimination and bias.VisionThe Vision of Parents for Diversity is that within their learning environment, each child feels that they belong, are valued for who they are, and that they have equal access to rigorous, meaningful and joyful learning.Our Beliefs and CommitmentsWe believe that:every child has the ability to acknowledge and value human differences;every child, irrespective of their race, culture, gender identity or expression and sexual orientation, disability or special need, has a right to an education free from discrimination and that celebrates diversity in all its forms;educators, parents and guardians, as well as students are responsible for ensuring that learning environments are inclusive and free from intolerance and discrimination.We commit to:raise awareness about the implications of racism, intolerance and discrimination on all members of society;develop workshops, materials and resources for families and schools that champion diversity and inclusion;advocate for students who experience discrimination or bias in schools.

Kick off P4D’s 10th Anniversary exploring the power of allyship launching P4D & how you can be an effective ally in schools & communities

Ottawa Technical Secondary School

Parents for Diversity marks the opening of its 10th anniversary year with Being an Effective Ally, a half‑day gathering focused on learning, dialogue, and community connection.The program includes:<ul><li>A panel conversation with P4D vice chair and board member Letitia Taylor and former board member Alison Kinahan</li><li>Interactive workshops led by Alison Kinahan and current board member Fatemeh Anvari</li><li>A keynote conversation with Tya Collins, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa</li><li>Lunch and a community market featuring local vendors</li></ul>Light refreshments will be available in the morning.This event is open to families, educators, community partners, volunteers, and anyone interested in strengthening inclusive educational spaces and community relationships.Language: The event will be held in English.Parking &amp; Building Access: Free parking is available along the side and at the back of the building. In addition to the front entrance, side doors H, I, and J will be open. Doors E and F (ramp access) at the back of the building will also be open.
