Secrets of the Snowpack: A Snowshoe Adventure
Snowshoe through a prairie winter wonderland while learning about the snowy secrets of nature.
Join us for a fun beginner snowshoe adventure and explore how local animals and plants embrace (or simply survive) winter at Beaver Creek Conservation Area!
Your afternoon will begin at Chip's Lodge where Meewasin staff will share a few words about the organization as well as provide a brief history of snowshoeing; then help you fit and secure your own pair of snowshoes.
Then, venture out into a winter wonderland on a guided snowshoe hike, where you will participate in a series of select hands-on activities to uncover more about local wintertime flora and fauna.
Our time outdoors will conclude with a hot beverages and cookies inside Chip's Lodge.
The formal program ends at 3:30.
Proceeds from this program support Meewasin's conservation efforts in the river valley!

TICKET EXCLUDES
- Transportation to/from Beaver Creek Conservation Area
- Water - there is no potable water onsite, please bring a full water bottle with you!
- Meals- a small snack will be provided, but we encourage you to bring an extra snack if needed.
IMPORTANT GUEST INFORMATION
Limited Availability: These events sell out quickly and this experience is limited to 20 people. One ticket provides admission for one person.
Age Reccomendation: This is a family-friendly event, children 8 years and older are welcome, but MUST BE
- Accompanied by an adult
- Comfortable walking 2 km in snowy conditions
Youth size snowshoes are availiable!
What to Bring: A full water bottle- there is no potable water onsite.
Dress Code: Dress for the winter weather! Proper outerwear and footwear are a must as this event takes place outdoors in open prairie, where we will be snowshoeing on uneven surfaces in snowy conditions -ski/snow pants are highly recommended.
Etiquette: The site is a Conservation Area. Please tread lightly and refrain from littering or smoking.

Due to the terrain and nature of this activity, this expereince is NOT considered accessible for participants with limited mobility. Please contact events@meewasin.com for more information.
WEATHER DISCLAIMER
This is an outdoor experience that runs in winter conditions, so please come prepared to be outside. However, in the event Meewasin staff cannot run this program, due to severe weather or travel advisory, the event will be cancelled and postponed to a following Saturday with the option of a full refund.
