Candle Painting - Spring Flower Theme

Studio on the FarmBelleville, ON
Thursday, Apr 2 from 6 pm to 9 pm
Overview

Get creative with candle painting and bring spring flowers to life in a fun, chill art session!

Grab your favourite people and join me for this fabulous candle-painting workshop! Choose a beeswax candle in advance of the class from a selection of floral and whimsical designs. Jenny will make your candles and let them cure before our class starts. During the class, you will learn how to paint candles with liquid candle dye. It creates a beautiful, artistic candle. This technique is not common, so you're learning something truly unique!

The beeswax for these candles comes from a farm, not 10 minutes from Studio on the Farm. Now that's local! It smells amazing, with a gentle, delightful toasted honey scent.

When I started making candles, I wanted to paint them with more detail than traditional wax dyeing allowed. I wanted to be able to mix colours and layer them on. Normal candle paint pens are very opaque and don't allow for a build-up of colour. So when I purchased a set of liquid candle dye, a light went off... I thought, why not use this candle dye as paint? And... well, you can see the results. I also use mica powder to add metallic, shiny accents. During this class, all of these media will be available for you to use! I'm not one to gate-keep a good technique, so come join me and learn how! It's fun, rewarding and easy to get beautiful results. I've refined the process, spent several months experimenting to see what works best, and now I'd love to show you how!

Studio on the Farm is a welcoming space to get creative! Located on a small farm in Roslin, Ontario and owned by local artist Jenny Pries. Make yourself at home! Hot and cold drinks are provided. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions! Thank you for supporting local arts events!
