Virtual Support Session: Narrative Writing: A 6-Week Workshop Series

Virtual Support Session: Narrative Writing: A 6-Week Workshop Series

Online event
Tuesday, Mar 31 from 7 pm to 8:30 pm EDT
Overview

Writing is healing and the opportunity to share our stories, especially among community, increases the benefit of healing.

We have learned that those who live with physical or mental illness can experience a reduction in anxiety and also improve their wellbeing when they write about their experiences and share their story.

Both sides of the sharing experience bring opportunities to feel seen and heard. That’s what makes this support group with others who know what you are going through especially transformative.

Do you want to share your story but are just not sure where to begin? The stories you write in this session can be related to your breast cancer experience or not at all. This is an open space for you to free-write and let whatever comes to mind flow.

Join us for this 6-session closed group workshop on narrative writing, where we will learn how to express ourselves by writing and sharing our stories, meeting weekly on the following dates: March 31st , April 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th, and May 5th.

We made this a closed-group setting over the course of six weeks to create more space for you to open up, perhaps expand your writing flow, and deepen your self-expression. If you have joined a narrative writing workshop previously, we still encourage you to join again at any time it is offered as each group co-creates the container and it is different each time!

The hope is that everyone will be able to share at least one story during our time together and benefit from the empowering experience of not only writing and remembering a story but also the power of sharing and storytelling to others.

This workshop will be different than other groups or workshops that you may have attended before because the focus will be incorporating the feelings that our stories evoke into useful and effective narratives. We will remain focused on the stories and on the ways that these stories can affect us and become more meaningful to us.

Learning to write your story into a helpful narrative is a process, so each week builds on the previous week(s). Please note that this is a closed-group setting, meaning that you are registering for all six* weeks in the series and commit to attending each week to get the most out of this workshop and reciprocate support among peers.

*Please only register if you know you can commit to the full 6 weeks.

WHEN: Tuesdays in March, April and May at 7:00 pm ET starting March 31st , and continuing April 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th , and May 5th.

WHERE: Zoom Meeting (Link will be included in the confirmation email to ensure everyone's privacy). *Please note the zoom link will be the same for all six sessions
