CHS Summer Camp: Courageous Canines (Grade 1-3) - August 17th - 21st
Calling all budding canine experts and pup‑loving kids!
CHS Summer Camp
Calgary Humane Society Summer Camp is a place where kids build meaningful connections with animals. Our goal is to create opportunities for children to interact with, learn about, and develop empathy for the animals that share our world.
Led by enthusiastic instructors, dedicated volunteers, and supported by our friendly animal ambassadors, each camp week offers an enriching experience filled with fun activities, creative crafts, and hands‑on learning. As campers explore and play, they also learn about respect, compassion, and the lifelong responsibility of caring for animals.
All activities are designed to be age‑appropriate and developmentally suitable. For campers who wish to attend multiple weeks, each week features a unique theme to ensure fresh and diverse experiences.
Throughout their time with us, campers will discover animal characteristics and behavior, learn proper pet care, and meet a variety of species, including bunnies, cats, dogs, reptiles, birds, and more!
Theme Description: Courageous Canines (Grade 1-3)
Join us for a summer camp experience all about our cool canine companions! Throughout the week, campers will explore questions such as: Why do people have dogs as pets? What specific care do dogs need? What should I consider before adopting a dog? How can I prepare to welcome a dog into my home? What does it really cost to have a canine companion? And how can I help support dogs in an animal shelter while they wait for their forever homes?
This camp is paw‑fect for campers who dream of having a dog of their own one day. The week will be rounded out with visits from animal guests (dogs and other species), hands‑on dog enrichment toy‑building, and plenty more tail‑wagging fun!
