For nearly 50 years, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s community tour has brought the power of dance to audiences in schools and community spaces across the province.

Experience the future of ballet with the On The Edge Tour, a thrilling mixed‑repertoire program showcasing the School’s rising stars and exciting new choreography.

This year, audiences will be among the first in Manitoba to see the work of the RWB’s new Artistic Director, Christopher Stowell, with excerpts from his vibrant productions of Swan Lake and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. From the sparkling energy of Mendelssohn’s Scherzo to the dramatic storytelling of Prince Siegfried and the Swan Queen, these beloved classics are reimagined with freshness and drive, offering a wonderful introduction to the world of ballet.

The program also features an exciting lineup of world premieres and contemporary works, including:

  • Two original solos by RWB Aspirant dancers Claudia Einarson and Paige Irwin, created for competition in the prestigious Prix de Lausanne Young Choreographers Award in Switzerland.
  • A technically dazzling new creation by Melvin Charles Lawovi, an emerging choreographer and current dancer with American Ballet Theatre in New York, commissioned through the Pathways to Performance initiative.
  • A fiery, rhythm‑driven new work by Maritel Centurion.
  • A powerful contemporary premiere by RWB Principal Dancer Stephan Azulay.

Blending beloved story‑ballet excerpts with cutting‑edge contemporary choreography, the On The Edge Tour offers audiences the chance to see the RWB’s stars of tomorrow alongside the artistic direction shaping the Company’s future.
