This webinar explores grief and loss counselling in social work practice, with a focus on companion animal loss and its emotional, relational, and ethical impacts. Participants will be introduced to Veterinary Social Work as an emerging field and learn how the human–animal bond shapes grief experiences, client wellbeing, and support needs across practice settings.
PRESENTERS
Dawn Campbell (she/her, BSW, RSW) is a Veterinary Social Worker with the Vancouver Humane Society and a Board Director with the BC Bereavement Helpline. She is also the founder of Between2Mirrors Counselling and Consulting Services, where she provides counselling, training, and consulting to organizations and social service providers. Her work focuses on grief and loss, trauma-informed and ethical practice, and strengthening collaboration between animal welfare and social service systems through a One Welfare lens.
Brenn Clarke (she/her, MSc) is the Founder and Practitioner of Compassionate Creatures. She supports individuals and families navigating companion animal loss and also works with animal care teams, including veterinary clinics, to provide grief-informed support, education, and capacity building related to the human–animal bond and loss.
