Chaplin Shorebirds Tour

Visit one of Canada's best Shorebird Hotspots. Over 30 species of plovers and sandpipers occur here.

Join Stan Shadick for a guided group tour of the best birding hotspots at Chaplin and Quill Lakes Important Bird Area. Trip starts in Saskatoon but can meet up at Chaplin with visitors from Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current and other parts of the province. A high quality spotting scope is available for obtaining the best possible views of the birds.

• Other shorebirds and waders often include White-faced Ibis, Red Knot (spring), Sanderling, Wilson’s Phalarope, Red-necked Phalarope, American Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, Marbled Godwit, Hudsonian Godwit, Stilt Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Baird’s Sandpiper, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitcher, Lesser Yellowlegs, Willet, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Killdeer.
  
• Possible Grassland birds include Upland Sandpiper, Long-billed Curlew, Lark Bunting, Baird’s Sparrow, Chestnut-collared Longspur, Western Meadowlark.

Both novice and experienced bird watchers are welcome. A loaner pair of binoculars may be available if requested. The leader will bring a spotting scope to allow you to view the birds under high magnification.
