First Annual Indigenous Education Council Chairs' Gathering

Annual meeting of IEC Chairs to discuss and share information and contribute to reconciliation between school districts and First Nations

The first annual Indigenous Education Council (IEC) Chairs' Gathering will take place on May 13, 2026 (Indigenous Education Council Chairs only). The central purpose of the meeting is to support effective implementation of IECs in order to improve outcomes and attendance for First Nations students in BC public schools, in alignment with the School Act Amendments and Ministerial Order.

• Breakfast and registration will be from 8:00AM - 9:00AM.
• Includes breakfast and lunch, as well as coffee and refreshments throughout the day.
• The agenda will be distributed closer to the meeting date.
• There is no conference registration fee for this event.

There are a limited number of hotel rooms at a discounted rate available online. Please call 604-279-8384 and ask for the group rate for the Indigenous Education Council Chairs' Gathering on May 13, 2026 if:

• Additional rooms are needed
• If rooms no longer show online or it is past the promotional rate deadline (the hotel may grant the discount if rooms are still available)

We recommend booking early as discounted hotel rates end on April 29, 2026.

• Please contact the hotel for complimentary airport transfer availability.
• All guestroom related charges are paid for by the individual guest.
• Rooms cancelled after May 6 are subject to full payment.

Parking

Complimentary parking is available for Hotel Overnight Guests on the 5th level of the parkade in the blue zone only, and the front of the hotel. Upon check-in, please register your car licence plate with the Front Desk. If no registration is done with the Front Desk, vehicles are at risk of being ticketed and towed. Please do not park at the Yaohan Shopping Centre at any time. Vehicles will be towed at your own expense.
