This interactive webinar will provide an overview of coaching and how it differs from therapy within the context of social work practice.

DESCRIPTIONThis interactive webinar will provide a clear, practical, and accessible overview of coaching and how it differs from therapy within the context of social work practice.Participants will explore the foundational principles of coaching, including its focus on future-oriented growth, self-reflection, and capacity-building, in contrast to therapy’s clinical, diagnostic, and treatment-based approaches.The session will also address common areas of overlap and confusion, including scope of practice, boundary considerations, and when each modality is appropriate.Real-world examples will be used to illustrate how coaching can support social workers in areas such as leadership development, career transitions, boundary-setting, and navigating workplace challenges.Participants will be invited into reflection and discussion throughout, including opportunities for small group dialogue, and the session will conclude with a Q&amp;A.PRESENTERDaniela Cohen is a Vancouver-based coach and conflict transformation practitioner with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, education, and equity-focused initiatives in Canada and South Africa. She holds a master’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Management and has worked extensively with service-driven professionals navigating complex relational, organizational, and systemic challenges.Daniela’s work focuses on supporting women in service roles to address burnout, over-responsibility, and internalized patterns shaped by systemic and gendered expectations. Her approach integrates coaching, conflict transformation, and equity-informed practice to support sustainable leadership, boundary-setting, and values-aligned decision-making.She works with individuals and groups through coaching, facilitation, and training, and brings a reflective, practical, and non-clinical lens to professional development.ZOOMThis event will be delivered on Zoom.
