Durham Creative Arts Centre

Explore creative tools, try new equipment, and experiment with art in a relaxed, low-pressure space open to all.

DCAC Open Studios is a monthly, drop-in event where the entire centre is open for public exploration. Visitors are encouraged to move freely through the space, try out a range of creative tools and equipment, and experiment with different artistic mediums at their own pace.In addition to self-guided exploration, Open Studios features rotating, hands-on activations led by artists and community members. Visitors can observe and participate in real-time creative processes, like a live photo shoot or a drop-in workshop hosted by a local art collective.No prior experience is required—this event is designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to practicing artists. Staff, volunteers, and guest creatives will be available to answer questions, offer guidance, and help you get started.All core tools and equipment will be available on-site. Some materials and activations may be limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.The venue is accessible, and we strive to create an inclusive, welcoming environment for everyone.
