This is a follow up to the 2024 webinar on MAiD and Disability.  We will review the current state of MAiD and the key disability concerns.

DESCRIPTIONThis is a follow up to the 2024 talk on MAiD and Disability. The webinar will review the current state of MAiD and the key disability concerns. The talk will then consider recent developments including proposed Federal and Albertan legislation, the proposed expansion of MAiD to include mental illness as the sole underlying condition as well as calls for advance request and for the elimination institutional exemptions.PRESENTERTim Stainton is an Emeritus Professor at the School of Social Work and Director of the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship, University of British Columbia. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics on disability rights and social policy. He has written and presented extensively on MAiD and was a member of the Government of Canada expert committee on MAiD.
