Inspired by movies and TV like Spotlight, All The President's Men, The Paper (1994), and the 5th season of The Wire, Deadline is an improvised journalism mini-thriller. Gasp, laugh, and shake your heads as the reporters of a failing newspaper follow what seems to be a simple story through the halls of power to reveal just how rotten the system is. Navigating politics, budget cuts, and their personal struggles to get ink to page, some of the city's best improvisers craft a story right before your eyes... and before the deadline.

Bad Dog Comedy Theatre and Sex T-Rex are honoured to announce the return of Blockbuster Week from May 11-16, 2026 at Videocabaret, a community gathering for some of Toronto’s most talented artists, Blockbuster Week is a beloved festival of brand new improvised comedies celebrating movies and television in a live, unscripted setting.

Blockbuster Week culminates on May 16 in a celebratory awards night called The Sexies, which sees Sex T-Rex awarding satirical yet heartfelt awards to all the artists in the festival.

About Bad Dog Theatre
