Is this ride free?

Yes! The Glow Bike Ride is a free, community event open to everyone. Just show up with your bike and some lights.

Question 2

Do I need to register?

Accepted Answer

No registration required. Just show up at the Garneau Lamp by 8:30pm on May 1st and you're good to go.

Question 3

What kind of bike do I need?

Accepted Answer

Any bike works — road, mountain, hybrid, or cruiser. As long as it's safe to ride, bring it along. E-bikes are also welcome! Non-bike wheels are welcome too — scooters, rollerblades, skateboards, you name it — as long as you can keep up with the group and get your ride decorated.

Where do I get lights for my bike?

Value Village, IKEA, and the Dollar Store are all great spots for affordable battery-powered LED lights. Fairy lights, glow sticks, and spoke lights all work great!

Question 5

Is this ride safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bike marshals will guide the group throughout the route and help keep everyone safe. Riders are responsible for following all road rules and staying with the group.

Question 6

What if I can't ride the full 17.9 km?

Accepted Answer

The route is designed to be fun and social, not a race. Ride at your own pace. That said, if you're unsure about the distance, a short practice ride beforehand is a great idea.

Question 7

Can I go inside Odd Company after the ride?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Odd Company is the after-ride destination. Just bring valid ID if you want to head inside.

Question 8

Can kids come?

Accepted Answer

Kids are welcome on the ride! Just make sure younger riders are comfortable on city streets at night and are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Note that Odd Company is 18+ so little ones will need to head home after the ride.

Do e-bikes count?

Accepted Answer

Yes! E-bikes are totally welcome. Just make sure your bike is decorated and lit up like everyone else's.
