Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) is an independent non-profit public art gallery committed to the acquisition, presentation, interpretation and dissemination of contemporary art for the benefit of the local arts community. Its programs explore a variety of issues and include exhibitions, talks, lectures, tours and publications. OAG has a growing permanent collection of historical and contemporary works associated with the region. It also houses the Firestone Collection of Canadian Art, which consists of more than 1,600 works of art assembled by Ottawa collectors O.J. and Isobel Firestone, who acquired the works from the early 1950s to the 1970s.__________

Please join us at the OAG on Saturday, April 18th in the Spencerville gallery, level 3, from 1:30 PM to 3 PM for a panel discussion with artist Leah Decter and co-curators Rachelle Dickenson and Carla Taunton.The artworks by Leah Decter, a white settler artist and scholar, offer an opportunity to reflect on repair and care of relationships to the land and to each other. With captivating textures and colours, she provides a lens through which we may see differently familiar national icons and everyday experiences of Canadiana. Soyez des nôtres à la GAO le samedi 18 avril dans la salle Spencerville (niveau 3), de 13 h 30 à 15 h pour une table ronde en compagnie de l’artiste Leah Decter et les co-commissaires Rachelle Dickenson and Carla Taunton.Les œuvres de Leah Decter, artiste et chercheuse allochtone blanche, fournissent l’occasion de réfléchir aux liens que l’on entretient avec les autres et avec la terre. Au moyen de textures et de couleurs captivantes, l’artiste nous permet de cerner les icônes nationales familières et les expériences quotidiennes de canadiana d’un angle différent. Ainsi, elle nous enjoint à nous pencher sur la façon de réparer et de préserver ces relations.Le programme se déroulera en anglais.
