New York has the Met Gala. Port Hope has the Goose Ball! An Art Ball for All showcasing the creativity that make up Northumberland’s runway.

New York has the Met Gala. Port Hope has the Goose Ball!

On the last Saturday of May (Saturday, May 30th), hundreds are invited to gather in the Agricultural Fair Centre at Port Hope’s Town Park Recreation Centre to celebrate art, creativity and community at the Annual Goose Ball.

Unlike the exclusivity of the Met Gala (or most gala events), the Goose Ball is the quirkier, more inclusive, ‘Art Ball for us All’.

The Goose Ball democratizes the gala experience, inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to showcase the creativity that makes up Northumberland’s runway.

Each year feature's a curatorial theme to spark creativity. This year's theme is Under the Sea. Guests are invited to dress as their favourite artist or artwork, take inspiration from the Under the Sea theme, or simply ‘be the art’.

While dressing up is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Come as you are, in whatever makes you feel your best.

What to expect:
A fun-filled evening celebrating creativity and inclusivity – an evening the whole family can enjoy!

Featuring: Live sea shanties and pirate music by Matt Marcuz; a Community Runway Show with costume contest and prizes; DJ Jasper will provide the runway tunes and dance party vibes; special guest ‘land’ performances by the Port Hope Artistic Swimming Club; a ‘Submerged Cinema’ live art puppet installation; interactive art activities; live photo booth sketches; a relaxed cardboard sea cove with viewings of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; and a Castaways Canteen area featuring Boba Loka and the Bewdley Lion’s Food Truck . Did we mention that there will be a fortune telling Merman? and the Shriner’s Pirate Ship?! The evening will be hosted by Northumberland’s favourite emcee, York Bell-Smith.

Date: Saturday, May 30th, (the last Saturday of May)
Time: 6:00 p.m – 11:00 p.m.
