Taught by experienced film costumer Olivia Lucas, this full-day Sunday session is designed so you don't lose a workday — and the skills you leave with are directly applicable to every role in the department.Enrollment is limited to 10 participants to ensure personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on time. A take-home kit is included with your registration.What You'll LearnFoundational Skills Threading a needle quickly using the German twist method, anchoring and tying off, correct hand posture, and an overview of the main fabrics encountered on set — their feel, weight, and how to handle and repair them.Hand Sewing Techniques Basting, backstitching, hem stitch (herringbone), stab stitching, ladder stitch/slip stitch, and flat felling/hand serging.Buttons &amp; Closures How to sew two to three button types (2-hole, 4-hole, and shank), two to three closure types including hook and eyes, snaps, and bar sliders, and an introduction to buttonholes (time permitting).What to Bring<ul><li>Your own lunch and snacks</li><li>A willingness to get hands-on</li></ul>All tools and materials are provided in your take-home kit, which includes hand sewing needles, thread, fabric swatches ranging from chiffon to canvas, buttons, and closures.Workshop Details<ul><li>Duration: Approximately 5 hours including breaks and lunch</li><li>Open to all — industry professionals, newcomers, and students welcome</li><li>Organized by <a href="https://www.caftcad.com" title="https://www.caftcad.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">CAFTCAD</a> (Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design)</li></ul>
