Is this a bike ride?

Accepted Answer

No. Bikes & Beverages is primarily a social meetup and community conversation.

Some events may happen before or after rides or other bike-related events. We encourage sustainable transportation to and from all of our events however!

Question 2

Do I need to bike to attend?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. While many attendees will arrive by bike, anyone interested in community, transportation, city-building, or meeting new people is welcome.

Question 3

Do I need to drink alcohol?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not.

Many events will happen at coffee shops, cafés, or other non-alcohol-focused venues. Even at breweries or pubs, there is never any expectation to drink alcohol.

Do I need to register?

Accepted Answer

No. Registration is optional and mainly helps people receive reminders, calendar invites, and updates if details change.

Is this a YEG Bike Coalition membership event?

Accepted Answer

Everyone is welcome — whether you are deeply involved in advocacy or just curious about what’s happening in Edmonton’s cycling community.

Are these events family friendly?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes — but it depends on the venue and timing. We will generally prioritize welcoming and accessible spaces whenever possible. Check individual event listings for details.

Is there a schedule or formal programming?

Accepted Answer

Usually not. These are intentionally informal gatherings. Some events may include short announcements, introductions, or connections to nearby activities, but most are simply relaxed community meetups.

I’m new to biking / advocacy / Edmonton. Can I still come?

Absolutely. These events are designed to be approachable and welcoming to newcomers.
