What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment where patients breathe 100% pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber at pressures above normal atmospheric levels. This dramatically increases the amount of dissolved oxygen in the blood plasma, up to 10 to 15 times normal levels.

Does OHIP cover hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Ontario?

Yes. OHIP covers hyperbaric oxygen therapy for the 14 Health Canada-recognised conditions.
