Youth 13-18 are invited to join us for a 3-day summer camp to explore materials, personal stories, cultural memories, and identity.
Inspired by Shirley Moorhouse and Zadie Xa’s ability to share stories through fabric, youth will spend time experimenting with materials and developing the skills needed to create their own work of textile art. Through meaningful symbols, patterns, and textures, youth will explore personal stories, cultural memories, and identity.
Registration is essential.
Camp schedule (registrants must attend all 3 days):
Sunday 2 August, 10am - 4pm
Monday 3 August, 10am - 4pm
Tuesday 4 August, 10am - 4pm
Recommended for youth aged 13-18. Parent or guardian consent essential for participants under 16.
Parents or guardians are not required to be present for the duration of the program. Lunch will be provided, and youth will receive an honorarium should they decide to submit their work for their Bridge Space exhibition.
CONSENT FORMS:
A link to an online consent form will be be shared with confirmed registrants only.
NOTE: Please register with an email address that you monitor regularly. You will receive a confirmation email prior to the program. You must reply to the email to confirm your attendance. If you do not confirm, your spot will be offered to the waitlist. This new system has been implemented to ensure as few tickets as possible go unused. We very much appreciate your cooperation, and look forward to seeing you at the program!
WHAT IS THE BRIDGE SPACE?
This experimental exhibition space supports youth in the early stages of their creative journey. Guided programming supports these artists in developing creative skills, exploring new materials and techniques, and forming important connections with peers and artist mentors. The work created through these programs is presented here as a point of creative connection and exchange—an active platform where young artists can share their perspectives and visions of the world.
Respect and Inclusion
By registering for this Program you agree to co-create, in collaboration with Esker Staff, Artists and Volunteers, an atmosphere of mutual inclusion and respect for all persons. This includes speaking, acting and behaving in a way that is absent of violence, harassment, racism, intimidation, bullying or discrimination of any kind regardless of, and not limited to gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, culture, age and ability.
