Stand-Up Comedy for the Animals

A hometown night of all-Miramichi comedy in support of the Miramichi SPCA, featuring four local comedians coming together for one community-driven fundraiser.

$5 from every ticket sold goes directly to the Miramichi SPCA.

A sold-out show will raise $325, supporting animal care, shelter operations, and adoptions in the community.

Hosted by Maggie Estey

One of the best comics in the Maritimes, Maggie is originally from Sunny Corner and has become a standout on the regional comedy scene. Known for sharp writing, fearless honesty, and a strong stage presence, she’s performed at major East Coast showcases including the HubCap Comedy Festival and CBC Radio appearances.

Matt Richardson

A veteran comedian with over 20 years on stage, Matt trained at Toronto’s Second City Conservatory and has performed across Atlantic Canada. Heard on CBC Radio’s LOL and featured at the HubCap Comedy Festival, he blends everyday life with classic Miramichi upbringing into sharp, relatable storytelling.

Chad Duplessie

Former Miramichi city councillor turned stand-up comic, Chad delivers grounded observational humour inspired by local life, politics, and the personalities that define small-town New Brunswick. A natural storyteller with quick wit and strong crowd connection.

Jimmy MacKinley

A Miramichi native performing across Canada, Jimmy has appeared on CBC Radio, headlined Yuk Yuk’s stages, opened for Gerry Dee, and starred in O’Don’s. He is also known for Jimmy Saves The World: Atlantic, delivering sharp writing with easy East Coast delivery.

Bad Words for a Good Cause started in 2023 as a one-off series of three pay-what-you-can shows to help friends and family in need. From there, it grew into a community-driven comedy series built on keeping shows accessible, spotlighting local comedians, and raising money for causes that need it. It runs independently out of Saint John and occasionally travels when resources allow, with no sponsors—just ticket sales and community support. To date, it has raised close to $6,500 for charities and families across New Brunswick and PEI.

The animals featured on the poster are currently available for adoption through the Miramichi SPCA.
