Question 1

Is this religious?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a spiritual and experiential gathering, not a religious ceremony. You are welcome regardless of your beliefs or spiritual background.

Question 2

What is a Despacho Ceremony?

Accepted Answer

A Despacho is a traditional Andean offering created as an expression of gratitude, reciprocity and prayer. Together, we’ll create a beautiful offering of flowers, sweets, and substanance for Pachamama (Mother Earth).

Question 3

Do I need to know anything about shamanism or Despacho ceremonies?

Accepted Answer

Not at all! No previous experience is needed. Just bring an open heart, an open mind and a little curiosity. I’ll guide you through everything.

Question 4

Will I have to speak or share anything personal?

Accepted Answer

No! In fact, you don't need to say anything out loud. Our intensions and prayers are expressed with our breath - we blow them into the offerings. No words needed.

Question 5

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

Please bring a scarf to wear around your neck during the ceremony. You’ll also be invited to be barefoot or wear socks, so we can connect with the earth. Everything else will be provided.

Question 6

What should I wear?

Accepted Answer

Something comfortable as we will be sitting during the ceremony.

Question 7

What if I don't know anyone?

Accepted Answer

Perfect! Part of the evening is intentionally designed for connection. We'll have time to mingle before the ceremony, and I'll encourage everyone to meet and connect with one another. Come meet someone new!

Question 8

Is there anything I need to believe for this to “work”?

Accepted Answer

No. You don't need to believe anything specific. Come with curiosity, participate in the experience, and allow yourself to explore what it means to set an intention and practice reciprocity.
