How to Jam (Vocals) with Afoke and Pinky!

How to Jam (Vocals) with Afoke and Pinky!

Overview

Join this workshop to learn how to vocalize and harmonize during a Jam!

This workshop is titled how to jam and will entail elements such as finding lyrics to sing at the jam, listening to musical instruments and trusting in your own musical awareness. I hope for this space to make people more aware of their own innate strengths and to make improvisation less daunting for beginners.

This workshop is a space for beginner and intermediate singers to build confidence, explore their voices, and strengthen their vocal skills. Participants can expect guided vocal exercises, warm-ups, and activities focused on breathing, pitch, tone, vocal control, and performance. Through a supportive and creative environment, attendees will learn new techniques, experiment with their voices, and connect with other singers.

Workshops are recommended for people ages 16 and over. Children under 16 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Hi, my name is Afoke and I am an aspiring artist currently residing in Mohkinstsis. I love the arts, but especially singing//songwriting. Right now, I’m starting out in the music scene and trying to find my flow. My inspirations are from the likes of Willow, Deniece Williams, Anita Ward, but also, the talented folk at the Alcove Jam Sessions who show me every week that the arts are worth pursuing and making an effort towards.

Pinky is a passionate artist whose heart dances through the realms of acting, music, and dance. With each performance, she strives to create connections that uplift and inspire, inviting audiences to experience the beauty of shared emotion. Her love for the arts radiates warmth, fostering a sense of community and joy in every creation. Pinky believes that through artistic expression, we can all find common ground and celebrate the human experience together.
