The Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction (ICLR) helps manage both the Resilient Homes Task Force (RHTF) and the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC). As climate disruptions increase in frequency and severity, these programs and resources are meant to expedite application of meaningful resilience measures.
The RHTF initiative prioritizes scalable, constructible, and cost-effective options for low-rise residential construction in Canada to increase capacity of the insurance and home building industries to implement resilience practices in new homes and renovations.
The PIEVC Program provides step-by-step guidance to understand and integrate climate change resilience into engineered assets, including buildings.
Dan Sandink from ICLR will discuss both the RHTF and PIEVC programs, providing practical guidance on climate resilience and potential insurance implications associated with implementation of resilience measures.
