Question 1

Why might Alberta teachers and leaders find this useful?

Accepted Answer

Teachers are planners, and we plan each hour, day, week and year of our professional lives. However, our own transition plan to retirement often gets trumped by the busyness of our service to others. Perhaps this session can help you with your own plan.

Question 2

What have past participants appreciated about this workshop?

Accepted Answer

Past teacher participants have appreciated the infusion of stories, resources, common mistakes, straight-forward information and humour.

Question 3

Are 'in-person' versions of this workshop available?

Accepted Answer

Yes, many 'in-person' offerings are planned for 2026-27. Watch for opportunities shared by Alberta teacher conventions and school divisions across the province.

Question 4

Who is Ray Hoppins?

Accepted Answer

Ray loves working with teachers, empowering people, growing leaders and inspiring teams. Prior to founding Hoppins People Services in 2024, Ray was blessed with a fulfilling 33-year career as a teacher, principal, associate superintendent and chief human resources officer.

Question 5

Does Ray represent ASEBP, ATRF, ATA, CASS, school divisions or financial institutions?

Accepted Answer

No. However, he is a big fan! Ray is extremely grateful for everything that ASEBP, ATRF, ATA, CASS, school boards and institutions have done for his family and for him. And he regularly good-mouths and partners with all of the above.

Question 6

Are any specific products, investments, pension options or benefit plans being sold in the session?

Accepted Answer

Nope. He is simply a retired teacher who has borrowed powerful ideas from other retired teachers. And he draws energy from passing them along to Alberta teachers who take care of kids. Ray is not a financial advisor, nor is he employed by the entities listed above.
