Labyrinth Ontario welcomes an exciting and experimental line-up for the second night of performances at the Toronto Makam Music Forum!
Naomi McCarroll-Butler and Sam Shalabi form a duo not defined by a single aesthetic. Drawing from ‘80s punk to drone music to experimental folk, spiritual expression and environmental influences are centred in their practices. McCarroll-Butler’s saxophone and clarinet meet Shalabi’s guitar in this improvisational smorgasbord.
The Folios of Iranian Dastgāh is a highly skilled ensemble, formed by Sadaf Amini, Ava Rostamian, Soheil Sadeghi, Sasan Salaseli, and Araz Salek. With improvisation at the forefront, both the historic and contemporary aspects of the 19th century Iranian dastgāh tradition are on display.
