6th Annual Canadian Bitcoin Summit

Canadian Bitcoin Consortium

Six years in, this is more than an annual conference. It is where Canada's Bitcoin community comes together to help shape what comes next.

Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP 63rd floor of First Canadian Place (100 King Street West)

The Canadian Bitcoin Consortium is proud to return to Toronto for the 6th Annual Canadian Bitcoin Summit, marking six years of bringing together the people shaping the future of Bitcoin, digital assets and financial innovation in Canada. Over the past six years, the Summit has grown alongside the industry itself, becoming a trusted forum for meaningful conversations between industry leaders, financial institutions, regulators, policymakers, legal experts, investors and innovators. This year, we are excited to return to one of our favourite locations, Osler's Toronto office, for a full day of thought-provoking discussions, exceptional networking and stunning views of the city. What makes our Summit different is the people in the room. The Consortium specializes in convening the decision-makers who need to be part of the conversation. Rather than simply talking about the challenges facing the industry, our events create an opportunity for government, regulators and industry to engage directly, better understand one another's perspectives and identify practical paths forward. The 2026 Summit comes at an important moment for Canada. Bitcoin and digital assets are becoming increasingly integrated into global financial markets, stablecoins are reshaping payments, prediction markets are challenging traditional regulatory boundaries, and Canadians are looking for new ways to participate in the digital economy. At the same time, Canada's regulatory and financial infrastructure must continue to evolve if we want to remain competitive with jurisdictions moving quickly to attract investment, companies and talent. This year's agenda will tackle six timely conversations at the intersection of Bitcoin, finance, payments and regulation: prediction markets and gaming, the future of Bitcoin ATMs, Bitcoin access through TFSAs, the evolving role of banks and private stablecoin issuers, and the modernization of Canada's payment infrastructure. Attendees will hear directly from the leaders working on these issues, gain a clearer understanding of where Canada stands today, and participate in conversations about what needs to happen next. Beyond the content, the Summit is about connection. With a carefully curated audience and dedicated opportunities to engage throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to build relationships with leaders from across Canada's Bitcoin and financial ecosystem in an intimate setting designed for meaningful conversation.

Opening Remarks

Stablecoins already move value around the clock. Banks are answering with tokenized deposits: the same deposit claim, same prudential regime, often the same deposit insurance, now represented on a ledger so treasury, trade, and wholesale payments can settle in seconds instead of days. The opportunity is real: unlock trapped working capital, extend banking hours, and keep deposits funding loans instead of leaking to nonbank tokens. The hard part is also real. Single-bank “walled gardens” do not scale; 24/7 movement changes liquidity and run dynamics; and interoperability, finality, and recordkeeping still sit between pilots and a shared rail. This panel maps who is live versus who is still planning, how tokenized deposits differ from payment stablecoins and CBDCs, what multi-bank networks (Clearing House, Cari, Canadian banks, UK GBTD) must solve, and how risk, regulation, and product design have to change when deposits never sleep.

Panel 1 - Tokenized Deposits:

Prediction markets are rapidly gaining global attention, but their growth raises an important regulatory question: when does a prediction market become gaming, a derivative or a securities product? This panel will explore the evolving regulatory boundaries between prediction markets, crypto and gaming and what they mean for companies looking to operate in Canada. Speakers will examine jurisdictional overlap, AML obligations, consumer protection and market integrity, and discuss how regulators can provide clarity without applying multiple frameworks to the same activity. Attendees will gain insight into where Canada currently stands and what a workable regulatory approach could look like as this market continues to grow.

Panel 2 - Prediction Markets, Crypto & Gaming:

Networking Break

As Bitcoin becomes an increasingly established global asset, an important question is emerging: should Canadians have greater ability to access Bitcoin through one of Canada's most important savings vehicles? This panel will explore the current pathways and limitations for Bitcoin exposure within TFSAs, including qualified-investment rules, regulated products and custody considerations. Speakers will discuss why tax-advantaged access matters for everyday Canadians, how it could support long-term wealth creation and what policy or regulatory changes could give Canadians greater choice while maintaining appropriate investor protections.

Panel 3 - Bitcoin in the TFSA:

Lunch

As AI, cloud computing and digital services become increasingly important to Canada’s economy, access to secure and reliable enterprise data centre infrastructure is becoming essential. Expanding domestic capacity will strengthen Canadian data sovereignty and cybersecurity, reduce reliance on infrastructure outside Canada, and give Canadian businesses access to the computing and storage capacity they need to grow. With abundant energy, skilled talent and a strong technology sector, Canada has an opportunity to attract significant investment and high-value jobs while ensuring Canadians benefit from the rapid growth of digital infrastructure.

Panel 4 - Enterprise Data Centre Access:

Stablecoins are moving rapidly into mainstream finance, and Canada is developing the regulatory framework that will determine who can participate in this emerging market. As banks explore tokenized deposits and potentially issue their own digital money, what role will remain for private stablecoin issuers? This panel will examine how Canada's payments and stablecoin frameworks could shape competition between banks and non-bank issuers, including questions around reserves, redemption, banking access, interoperability and consumer protection. Attendees will gain a better understanding of what Canada's future stablecoin ecosystem could look like and whether regulation will enable a competitive market or favour established financial institutions.

Panel 5 - Stablecoins & the RPAA:

Bitcoin, stablecoins and blockchain-based settlement have demonstrated the ability to move value globally, yet widespread digital asset payments in Canada remain limited. So how far away are we really? This panel will take a practical look at Canada's current payment infrastructure and identify what is still preventing digital assets from moving into mainstream commerce. Speakers will examine banking integration, merchant adoption, settlement infrastructure, interoperability and regulatory clarity, as well as the role stablecoins and Bitcoin could play in domestic and cross-border payments. Attendees will leave with a clearer picture of where Canada stands today, what pieces are still missing and what needs to happen to make digital asset payments work at scale.

Panel 6 - Modernizing Canada's Payment Infrastructure:

Bitcoin has matured into a global institutional asset, yet Canadian banks and financial institutions continue to face regulatory, capital, custody and risk-management considerations that can limit how they participate in the sector. As international financial institutions expand digital asset custody, trading, lending and other services, what will it take for Canada to keep pace? This panel will examine OSFI's evolving capital treatment of crypto-assets, custody, banking access and the regulatory barriers that remain. Attendees will gain insight into what needs to change for Canadian financial institutions to confidently bank the industry, offer Bitcoin-related products and participate more fully in the growing digital asset economy.
