I have never been to an improv show. What actually happens?

Improv is comedy made up on the spot. Nothing is scripted and nothing is rehearsed. Our performers take an idea from the audience and build scenes, characters and whole stories out of it live, right in front of you. It is fast, it is funny,

Will you make me get up on stage?

No. We may ask the audience for a word, a place or a relationship, and calling one out is completely optional. If a show involves anyone from the audience joining us on stage, we say so clearly in the event description and we only ever take volunteers. You can enjoy the entire show from your seat.

Is the show appropriate for kids?

Most of our shows are built for a general audience and land around 16+ Because it is improvised, language and themes can occasionally get spicy. Shows intended for adults only are labelled on the ticket page, and so are shows

What time should I arrive?

Doors open 30 minutes before showtime. Coming early gets you the best seats and time to grab a drink.

Is the venue accessible?

Civic Garden is wheelchair accessible through the main entrance . Accessible washrooms are also onsite . If you have a mobility, sensory or seating need, email admin@shutthefrontdoor.ca ahead of the show and we will make arrangements, including a seat on the aisle or away from the stage.

Seating is general admission, so pick your spot when you arrive!

The venue has a licensed bar with drinks, options without alcohol, and snacks.

What should I wear?

Whatever you are comfortable in. Most people arrive as they are, straight from work or out for the evening. There is no dress code.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

If there are any available for sale, yes, however door pricing is in effect. If you want to save some money, get those tickets early!

What is your refund and exchange policy?

All sales are final, but tickets are transferable, so pass them to a friend if you cannot make it.

Can I book for a group, a birthday or a work team?

Yes, and we love a big group. Parties of  10 or more get a special group rate and reserved seating. We'd even love to give your group a shout out at the show to show our love!  Email admin@shutthefrontdoor.ca to set it up.

Is there an intermission?
