L’architecture est transformée par la prolifération et les progrès des nouvelles technologies médiatiques et des nouvelles formes de communication. De 2006 à 2016, la Galerie d’architecture Arthur Ross, sous la direction de Mark Wasiuta à l’École supérieure d’architecture, d’urbanisme et de préservation de l’Université Columbia, a été au cœur d’une pratique de recherche soutenue explorant ces intersections. Comme le suggère le titre, cet ouvrage rend compte des possibilités offertes par l’exposition d’archives en tant que mode, méthode et problématique de l’architecture; il constitue en soi le témoignage d’un projet de conservation d’une durée de dix ans qui visait à recadrer les documents, les auteurs et les environnements produits par l’architecture et qui, à leur tour, la produisent.

Pour cette occasion, Wasiuta expliquera la genèse de ce projet et comment il a été transposé sous forme de livre.

The Archival Exhibition with Mark Wasiuta

Please join us for a conversation with Mark Wasiuta on his latest publication, The Archival Exhibition: A Decade of Research at the Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery, 2006–2016, published by Columbia Books on Architecture and the City.

Architecture has irrevocably been altered by the proliferation and advancement of new media technologies and forms of communication. From 2006–2016, the Arthur Ross Architecture Gallery under the directorship of Mark Wasiuta at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation was the center of a sustained research practice experimenting with these intersections. As the title suggests, the book records the possibilities of the archival exhibition as a mode, method, and problem of architecture, and is itself a record of a decade-long curatorial project that sought to reframe the documents, authors, and environments produced by and producing architecture.

On this occasion, Wasiuta will discuss how this project came to be and the process of putting it into a book.
