本週六，Omikhle Bookshop 邀請《審美的政治：英國藝術運動的十個瞬間》作者 郭婷 Ting Guo，從書中的十個藝術史瞬間出發，帶我們重新閱讀十八世紀以來的英國藝術與社會變遷。
這不只是一場關於藝術史的講座。我們也將談到工業化與資本主義、階級與性別、移民與族裔，以及藝術如何一次次進入公共生活——從 William Blake 對體制與馴化的警惕、William Morris 對「為大眾的藝術」的想像，到 Banksy 對公共空間的介入，以及 Lubaina Himid 如何重新書寫英國藝術的面貌。
講座後，詩人、譯者、編輯及學者 宋子江 Chris Song 將加入對談，從視覺藝術延伸至文學、詩歌與公共表達，一起討論藝術、審美與政治之間持續變動的關係。
The Politics of Aesthetics: Ten Moments from British Art Movements

From William Blake, John Ruskin, the Pre-Raphaelites and William Morris to Francis Bacon, Tracey Emin, Banksy and Lubaina Himid—how have artists responded to the times they lived in? And how can ideas of beauty become a way of questioning the existing social order?
This Saturday, Omikhle Bookshop welcomes Ting Guo, author of The Politics of Aesthetics: Ten Moments from British Art Movements, for a talk tracing ten moments in British art history from the eighteenth century to the present.
More than a history of artistic movements, the book considers art alongside industrialization and capitalism, class and gender, migration and race, and the changing relationship between artistic practice and public life. Through these ten moments, we will explore how artists have challenged the conditions of their time and how aesthetics can itself become a form of social and political thought.
Following the talk, poet, translator, editor and scholar Chris Song will join Ting in conversation, extending the discussion from visual art to literature, poetry and public life.
主講人 Speaker｜郭婷 Ting Guo
多倫多大學語言研究系助理教授，研究亞洲的宗教、政治與性別，並與幾位朋友共同主持華語播客「時差」。著有《審美的政治》、《舊物的靈魂》，以及學術專著 Religion, Secularism, and Love as a Political Discourse in Modern China。
對談嘉賓 In Conversation｜宋子江 Chris Song
詩人、譯者、編輯及學者。曾獲香港藝術發展獎新秀獎（文學藝術）、義大利諾西德國際詩歌獎、第五屆海子詩歌獎等。現任香港國際詩歌之夜執行總監、《聲韻詩刊》主編，並為多倫多大學助理教授。
