MUSIC AT TABARET - Violin Masterpieces : The Golden Age  of Violins

Overview

Timothy Chooi explores violin masterpieces on three exceptional instruments, from Bach to Shostakovich, with emerging musicians.

Join internationally acclaimed violinist and University of Ottawa Professor Timothy Chooi for an extraordinary afternoon exploring the expressive possibilities of the violin through masterpieces by Bach, Mozart, Bartók, and Shostakovich.

In this special recital, Timothy will perform on three distinct instruments: the legendary 1714 “Dolphin” Stradivarius, once played by Jascha Heifetz; the 1741 “Titan” Guarneri del Gesù; and a modern violin. Audiences will have a unique opportunity to experience the individual voices and characteristics of these remarkable instruments.

The program also features a special collaboration with members of the University of Ottawa Violin Studio, celebrating the connection between performance, mentorship, and the next generation of musicians.
