2017 Saskatchewan Construction Safety Summit

The Saskatchewan Construction Association (SCA) is the chief advocate and voice for the province’s dynamic construction industry. SCA represents more than 1,000 member companies, carrying out industrial, commercial, institutional, and heavy construction, as well as the build of multi-unit residential complexes.

Saskatchewan Construction Week

For Saskatchewan’s construction sector, safety is no longer just a social obligation — it’s a business priority. In 2015 alone, construction firms registered 836 lost-time injuries — roughly 10 per cent of the total province-wide. Safe workplaces are productive workplaces. They’re profitable workplaces. And they are workplaces of choice for skilled employees.
Join the Saskatchewan Construction Association (SCA), Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association (SCSA), and Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB), in conjunction with partners from across industry, for an important conversation on the future of construction safety in our province. This session — to be held during the first-ever Saskatchewan Construction Week (April 3 - 7) — will bring together senior industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore best practices, and to begin development on a shared roadmap for transitioning Saskatchewan construction companies into the safest in Canada.

11:15 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Presentation: The Business Case for Construction Safety (by SCSA President Collin Pullar and WCB Vice President of Prevention Phil Germain) 
12 - 1 p.m.: Lunch keynote: Case Studies Exploring Liability & Consequence (by Murray Sawatzky, Q.C., Fellow, Canadian College of Construction Lawyers)
1 - 1:45 p.m.: Panel discussion: What's Holding Us Back? (with Murray Totland, City Manager, City of Saskatoon; Bekk McDonald, Drug and Alcohol Program Lead, Wellpoint Health; and Arnold Reimer, General Manager, Nu-Fab Building Products 
1:45 - 3 p.m.: Roundtable breakouts: Overcoming Obstacles, Capitalizing on Opportunity
