2019 Sci Innovation Competition Final

Sci Innovation Centre is a private incubator located in Toronto, Canada and Shenzhen, China, specializing in venture services and investment between China and Canada. It is supported by City of Toronto and has established strategic partnerships with University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Western University, Ontario Center of Excellence, Keiretsu Forum and other Shenzhen-based innovation centers in US, Israel, France and UK. Sci Innovation Centre has three annual brand events - Sci Innovation Competition, Sci Innovation Festival and Sci Innovation Summit and two monthly brand events - Sci Demo Day and Sci Talent Day, aiming to create a synergy in venture services between China and Canada.

<P CLASS="MsoNormal"><SPAN>This is the third year of Sci Innovation Competition. We would like to invite tech startups and people who are interested in tech and innovation to be the important  audience of our final. </SPAN></P>
<P CLASS="MsoNormal"><STRONG>Background of the competition:</STRONG></P>
<P>Sci Innovation Centre invites promising tech ventures to a pitch competition to choose 20 companies from Canada to represent Canada at the China (Shenzhen) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (IEIC) in April 2019. The ten finalists from the SCI Toronto competition will be awarded cash prizes of up to <STRONG>C$20K</STRONG> each plus an expense-paid trip to compete at what has been called The International Olympics of Entrepreneurship.<BR><BR>IEIC aims to integrate innovation and entrepreneurship resources and help foreign innovation and entrepreneurship projects to connect with Chinese hi-tech industrial resources and expand the Chinese market for mutual benefits and win-win results.</P>
<P>This competition is open to all foreign innovation and entrepreneurship projects with no restrictions on competitors' nationality, company stage or prior funding.<BR><BR>Target Sectors are:<BR>1. Biology & Life Science<BR>2. Material & Energy (Clean-tech)<BR>3. Advanced Manufacturing<BR>4. Electronics<BR>5. Information Technology<BR>6. Internet of Things<BR>7. Artificial Intelligence<BR>8. Fintech<BR><BR>Companies with strong IP and solutions for a global market are encouraged to apply. Companies wanting to do business in China, establish manufacturing partnerships in Shenzhen, or solve some of China’s challenges are especially welcomed. Prizes awarded at Shenzhen IEIC 2019 will go up to <STRONG>C$200K</STRONG> for winners in each of the sectors. They will also be introduced to institutional investors managing <STRONG>C$4B</STRONG> in funds. For companies seeking seed to Series C financing, Shenzhen IEIC 2019 is the place to be.</P>
<P><SPAN>Warm-up pitch and info. session in each of Waterloo, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto are held in late January to early February to allow companies to pitch to judges and to receive helpful feedback prior to the Sci Toronto Final in March 2019. Participation in a regional session is not a requirement to be invited to the Final. Judges will assess all applications submitted by February 28 to select the invited competitors for the Final. </SPAN><BR></P>
