Mini-conference on challenges and opportunities of serving Nova Scotians who face intimate partner violence during the pandemic.

<p>Please join the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers as we recognize National Social Work Month in March.</p><p>This one-day conference will highlight research, community service and advocacy regarding the needs of people who experience intimate partner violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. The event is open to the public; all are welcome to attend.</p><aside>Note: For members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, this event may be considered formal professional development. The morning research panel can be used to meet the mandatory requirement for annual anti-oppressive training.</aside><h2>Conference schedule </h2><h3>11:00 AM-11:30 AM – Introduction &amp; welcome</h3><h3>11:30 AM-1:00 PM – Panel: Using Africentric social work to explore culturally responsive healthcare to end gender-based violence within African Nova Scotian communities</h3><p>This indepth panel discussion will explore meanings of culturally responsive care from an Africentric lens. Researchers will share an overview of the findings of their new and timely research project, Using Africentric Social Work to explore Culturally Responsive Healthcare to End Gender-Based Violence Within African Nova Scotian Communities. This project sprang from established partnerships and prior research that acknowledged the barriers faced by African Nova Scotians in accessing care.
