Influenced heavily by Frank Zappa drummers, bandleader Chris Lesso spent years touring the world with Tony &quot;Wild T&quot; Springer &amp; The Spirit and is now a highly acclaimed figure in the country&#x27;s rock and drumset community (endorsed by both Sonar Drums &amp; Sabian cymbals he has toured the country as a drumset clincian); the Trinidadian born Brownman Ali is widely known as a multi-award winning jazz/hip-hop trumpet iconoclast and is heralded as &quot;Canada&#x27;s pre-eminent jazz trumpet player&quot; by New York&#x27;s Village Voice; and Dane Wedderburn (subbing for Ian De Souza) is a highly sought after bassist in Toronto&#x27;s busy funk &amp; gospel scenes, and the bassist in Robert Ball&#x27;s NEO-LAB neo-soul/jazz sensation. Modus Factor&#x27;s debut recording &quot;The Picasso Zone&quot; (released on Browntasauras Records) shot to the top of the charts garnering rave reviews upon it&#x27;s release for it&#x27;s one-of-a-kind sounds and uniquely exploratory improvisations. Modus Factor sets the table for an engaging expedition into modern music that resonates with sounds ranging from electric Miles Davis to Frank Zappa to Jojo Mayer&#x27;s Nerve.&quot;Though I&#x27;ve seen Modus Factor often categorize themselves as &#x27;world music&#x27;, I think a much more accurate description of them would be &#x27;OTHER world music&#x27;.
