We continue our webinar series with the need for great cycling, walking and rolling, both urban and rural. Our guest speakers are <ul><li>Trish Dehnel, community planner, active with the Castlegar-Nelson Active Transportation Corridor Team; </li><li>Iona Bonamis, Senior transportation planner, and </li><li>Thomas Thivener, Active Transportation Lead with Watt Consulting. </li><li>Our MC is Mona Dahir, Road Safety EIT with the City of Surrey.</li></ul>Iona (思穎) Bonamis, MCIP, RPP (she/her) is a senior transportation planner, with a Masters of Science in Community and Regional Programming from UBC and more than 13 years experience as an urban planner. Over this time, she has worked on a broad array of active transportation and transit projects in Vancouver, North Vancouver, and other Canadian communities. She and her partner have never owned a vehicle, and they mainly travel with their two young kids by walking and cycling, and they use carshare when they do need a vehicle. www.ionabonamis.caPatricia Dehnel, MCIP, RPP is Principal of Dehnel Planning. She is passionate about a healthy built environment, community connection and inclusiveness. She lives in Nelson. She has more than 25 years of experience working with BC Local Governments on land use planning, active transportation, community outreach, community energy planning and policy development. Patricia and a team of community volunteers are currently spearheading the “Castlegar-Nelson Active Transportation Corridor Vision” to develop a year-round, inclusive, accessible active transportation route linking our local West Kootenay communities for safe commuting and recreation. Patricia is co-chair of the Planning Institute of BC’s Climate Action Sub-Committee. She believes in collaboration, resourcefulness and working to keep our communities healthy, liveable and safe for all, and for future generations.Thomas Thivener M.Sc., brings 15 years of public sector experience to WATT Consulting Group’s Transportation Division. He is WATT’s Active Transportation Lead. From facilitating bicycle and pedestrian improvements, and Complete Streets projects through to planning, engagement, and design, he possesses an ability to work with a variety of design professionals to ensure the best possible outcome. His experience within the public sector has given him unique insights into how to deliver complex projects.His experience includes developing mobility/bike share programs, developing complete streets, and changing public perceptions through strategic communications, education, encouragement, and enforcement.
