Together, we can make a positive impact on our environment and create a more sustainable future.The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas Inc.is a not – for – profit incorporation registered with theInformation Services Canada (ISC) Saskatchewan, under entity number 102084283.TheFriends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Area's goalsare to increase the safety and preservation of the afforestation areas as outlinedhere.As incorporated entities with an unique identity, Friends are governed by board members; and have customized organizational by-laws and letters patent.  Friends work locally with the City of Saskatoon park superintendent, MVA guidance, and other park liaisons as designated by the park superintendent. In Ontario, there are many, many Friends of the Park organizations, working together collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial objectives.

Come out to a nature connection event in a forest in Saskatoon. What is that? A forest? Don&#x27;t you know that the City of Saskatoon is on the prairies where there are grasslands? you say. It can be any wild plant, insects, mushrooms, animal, fungi, or any other evidence of life (shells, scat, fur, tracks, feathers, nests) found in your neighborhood, home, backyard, or even through your windows. You might be surprised by how many insects thrive in the nooks and crannies around you. It&#x27;s as easy as 1-2-3Simply download the free iNaturalist app, take a photograph of nature in your local area – whether that’s a tree, plant or insect or animal – and upload. You don’t even have to know anything about the species you are observing. Teams of experts will be reviewing and updating the information that’s submitted, so you can log back in later and learn more about what you’ve spotted.Help put the City of Saskatoon on the world nature scene! We all need this exploration of what species are still left with us, which ranges are expanding or shrinking, if climate change is affecting plants or animals. With the help of volunteers getting together to find as much biodiversity in an area as is possible makes it possible to formulate masterplans, environmental decisions about our land use, environmental policies and wildlife. Together, we can explore and connect with nature. This Nature Lover Observation Party will take place in Richard St. Barbe Baker Afforestation Area. But nature is everywhere! In your corner bus stop, hiding in the lawn, tucked under the leaves of your garden plants, birds flying through the branches of the boulevard trees, native plants in the grass of the ball diamond, insects crawling on the ground around the soccer pitches. Whether an animal, bird, insect, mushroom, plant lives in your backyard or in one of the most important conservation areas, it would be wonderful to document it on iNaturalist to find out how many songbirds are declining, and if any populations are increasing. To discover a species at risk or to eradicate a noxious invasive species

It is a forest after all, so perhaps you want insect repellent, or to wear pants instead of shorts, and sturdy shoes for forest paths instead of sandals. You may wish to bring along a small ruler or a tape measure
