Durham College&#x27;s School College Work Initiate (SCWI) team asks you:Are you currently taking an Adult Dual Credit? Are you an adult that is currently working towards completing your Secondary School Diploma or enrolled in Academic Upgrading? Not sure what the next steps or options look like? Perhaps you do see post-secondary studies in your future or you have hopes of entering a particular field, but you just don’t know how to get there? If you have pondered these types of questions then we have the workshop for you! We also have some SWAG giveaways and will provide you with a $10.00 marketplace card (Tims in the Gordon Willey only open at this time)!!!The purpose of the Adult Learners: Pathways to Post-Secondary event is to harvest inspiration and address some of the major concerns that may impede Adult Dual Credit and other adult learners from pursuing post-secondary education. This is an IN-PERSON event and will be held alongside DC&#x27;s very own Open House! Parking on the day of the event will be free and we recommend that if you drive, you park in Founders Lot 2. Everyone attending the event must enter Durham through the Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE) north doors off Founders Gate (across from Founders 2 parking lot). Proof of vaccination will need to be uploaded to the <a href="https://ssbp.mycampus.ca/apex/r/banner/covid19-prescreen168/login" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">COVID-19 pre-entry screening questionnaire</a>. *Note: at this time, the third booster shot is NOT required as proof of full vaccination.

We are beyond thrilled to announce that we will be starting the day off by hearing from our guest speaker, an advocate and public speaker, Kimberley Black! Kimberley is someone that has fought through many life challenges and she too returned to school as an adult. She dedicates herself to helping empower people to build resilience. You won't want to miss hearing from her!

What will Kimberley be talking about?What is your relationship with school? What about high school? Making the decision to return to school as an adult takes a lot of courage. You may be forced to step outside of your comfort zone and revisit past experiences. You may anticipate the challenges of balancing your studies with managing your family and job responsibilities. Finding the self-confidence to take on these challenges is the first step towards realizing you are full of potential and you have a lot to offer. In this discussion, Kimberley will share how she navigated her way through her relationship with school as a high school dropout to a mature student and share both the challenges faced and the lessons learned while working towards completing a post-secondary education.For more information about Kimberley, please head to: https://kimberleyblack.com/

We then look forward to introducing you to the manager of DC's SCWI, Sue Hawkins! Sue will help to reveal the many different pathways available in attaining the post-secondary path. She will explore the barriers that you may feel are getting in the way and even share some of her own journey about pushing through and tackling returning to school as an adult. Your participation is welcomed and encouraged and we hope to help answer any questions that you may have! Finally, we will close the session up by providing you with the opportunity to explore and get to know Durham College! This is your opportunity to get a real taste of ‘College Life’! During this portion of the workshop, you will have the opportunity to:•	Enjoy a warm beverage or snack with your $10.00 DC marketplace card (Tim's in the Gordon Willey building is open!)•	Meet with DC representatives to learn about their 140+ career-driven programs;•	Learn about DC's supportive financial aid services, including over $5 million in available bursaries and scholarships;•	Explore campus life and why our students love DC;•	Explore inspiring spaces and participate in a tour;•	Enter for a chance to win a $5,000 tuition credit;•	And so much more!!!We hope to see you April 9th!
