Anna Quon will be reading from her recently released book: Where the Silver River Ends

Join NSCSW Social Justice Ally Award Winner, activist, novelist and poet, Anna Quon, for a reading and discussion of her new novel <a href="https://invisiblepublishing.com/product/where-the-silver-river-ends" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Where the Silver River Ends</a>. Anna will talk about her inspiration for the book and her process of writing it, read a short excerpt from the book, and then have a conversation about some of the book&#x27;s themes — race and class, privilege and oppression, and the ways we “help&quot; and &quot;hurt.&quot;Feel free to submit questions or comments in advance or ask them on the fly, eat your lunch and drink your tea, while joining Anna in a conversation she hopes will leave you curious and refreshed for your afternoon ahead.This online event is hosted by the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and open to both members and the public. To join us, you&#x27;ll need access to a computer or mobile device that can use <a href="https://zoom.us/test" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zoom (click here to test it out)</a>, and a reasonably reliable internet connection.<h2>About the author</h2>Anna Quon is a Halifax poet, novelist, visual artist and filmmaker who likes to make paintings and short animated films of her poems. Where the Silver River Ends is Anna&#x27;s third novel with <a href="https://invisiblepublishing.com/authors/anna-quon#tab_books" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Invisible Publishing</a>. She has also published a poetry chapbook, Body Parts, with <a href="http://www.gaspereau.com/bookInfo.php?AID=0&amp;AISBN=9781554472222" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Gaspereau Press</a>.A middle-aged, mixed-race Mad woman, Anna facilitates writing and creative and expressive arts workshops for people with mental health histories. Having earned a BA in English literature from Dalhousie University in 1989, Anna has held contracts in the not for profit sector and all her working life, except for several years as a freelance writer. She has traveled as far as the Czech Republic and Russia to work on her writing. Anna believes in the need to focus on upholding human rights, the social determinants of health, and on a reduction in the inequitable distribution of wealth and opportunity in and among nations across the globe in order to create a more peaceful healthy, prosperous and unified world for humanity. Inspired by the Baha&#x27;i Faith, she believes in the inevitability of such a world — a source of great hope in the face of personal troubles, social hardship and political upheaval.
