Vicarious trauma & secondary stress

Members of the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers are required to complete annual professional development, which must include training or activities related to preventing and managing vicarious trauma and secondary stress.

The theme of this year's conference is: <strong><em>Social Workers Leading Transformational Change in 2022 </em></strong>. </p><p>This is the year that we embrace our role as change agents, advocates and leaders. This is the year that we embrace opportunities to pivot from our role in perpetuating bias and systemic inequity, toward decolonization and true justice for all people. In a world where everything has changed, and is changing, our professional mandate to work toward social justice is more relevant than ever, and invites us to consider our unique role as social workers in leading transformational change.</p><p>This virtual conference will create opportunities for members of NSCSW and others in our community to explore new perspectives and skills, and prepare to deliver crucial services in a changed landscape. We hope you can join us.</p><p>Program information, including the daily agenda, will be added to the conference website (<a href="https://www.nscswconference.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">nscswconference.org</a>) in late April .</p>

<h1>Meetings</h1><p>The annual conference dates coincide with two important meetings for NSCSW. Attendees should RSVP separately if they plan to join. Both meetings are free to attend. </p><p>Non-members will be able to watch public livestreams. All NSCSW members are invited to participate directly in these meetings on Zoom, including retired and student members. All NSCSW members can vote except those with a limited registration (e.g. temporary registration, restricted to telepractice from outside Nova Scotia etc.). </p><h2>Special meeting</h2><h3>Thursday May 12,  4 to 7 p.m.</h3><p>NSCSW members are invited to consider, debate, and vote on several motions. </p><p><strong></strong><a href="https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/320804363487"><strong>Click here to RSVP for the special meeting</strong></a><strong>.</strong></p><h2>Annual general meeting</h2><h3>Saturday May 14, 9 to 10 a.m.</h3><p>This is a presentation of the NSCSW's annual report. </p><p><strong></strong><a href="https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/320966388107"><strong>Click here to RSVP for the AGM</strong></a><strong>.</strong></p>
