Guelph Tribute to the Music of Motown

Established in 2011, the mission of the Guelph Black Heritage Society is to restore and maintain Heritage Hall, originally known as the British Methodist Episcopal (BME) Church, built in 1880 by formerly enslaved Black individuals and their descendants who arrived in the area via the Underground Railroad. The building is a cultural, historical and social community centre serving to promote Guelph and Wellington County's distinctive place in Southwestern Ontario's rich Black heritage.

The Guelph Black Heritage Society presents “A Guelph Tribute to the Music of MOTOWN&quot; at Royal City Church. As an irresistible force of social and cultural change, Berry Gordy’s legendary Motown made its mark not just on the music industry, but society at large, with a sound that has become one of the most significant musical accomplishments and stunning success stories of the 20th century. The tribute will feature performances by D&#x27;Eve Archer, Rufus John, Geordie Gordon, Carey West, Savannah Clarke, Nicolette Hoang, Andrew Craig and Verese Vassell-Bowen. This talented group of musicians will be backed by the House Band led by Artistic Director Nathan Lawr.Doors will open at 7:7pm and the show starts at 8 pm. Tickets in advance are $25 for adults, $15 for students. At the door $30 adult, $20 student.
